This morning we had the pleasure of driving to Northern Virginia for the shower of Peter and Kay Andrews’ baby to be!
Peter is the brother of a friend and co-worker at Anthropologie, Marggie Andrews, who took it upon herself to throw a beautiful couples baby shower. She knew right away that she wanted it to be a hot-air balloon theme. She wanted a classic preppy take on a theme that can traditionally feel very vintage. Marggie's parents beautiful home was the perfect party setting.
We made several paper-mache balloons that were hand painted with graphic sections of white, red, grey and pops of gold and teal. We wove baskets out of twine to add a rustic element and hung a few in the entrance and several around the outdoor party area. We made bunting flags from various printed fabrics in a similar color palette and hung them with the hot air balloons and up the staircase in the main entrance and backyard.
We watercolored and cut out paper hot air balloons to wrap around the dessert table that was adorably accessorized with lots of Marggie’s finds and consisted of delicious red and white cake pops, cupcakes, doughnuts and crème puffs.
Marggie also bought all of the accessories for the drink table sticking with a rustic feel by using metal binning and mason jars for the mimosa bar.
Two giant 36 inch balloons flanked the doorway and an adorable vintage inspired chalkboard allowed guests to guess the baby's gender.
We were so happy to help in the welcoming of the soon-to-be baby Andrews! Congratulations Kay and Peter!
